Elder abuse is any form of violence or mistreatment causing harm to senior citizens and occurs within a relationship of trust.
It includes acts of psychological, physical, financial and sexual abuse, as well as neglect.
Ballarat Community Health with Senior Rights Victoria is hosting the forum, which aims to get organisations and community groups on board the network.
It will cover government areas Ararat, Ballarat, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool and Pyrenees.
Ballarat Community Health has received funding to create the network through the Victorian government’s Free from Violence strategy.
The forum includes guest speakers from Senior Rights Victoria and the Victims Survivors’ Advisory Council, and workshop activities.
