UNIVERSITY of Ballarat automotive students are set to learn their trade on the most modern of cars, thanks to a generous donation from a Ballarat car company.
Bedggoods Corner Car Sales in Wendouree donated a 2012 model Kia Rio to the automotive section of the UB SMB campus.
Using the latest in automotive technology, students will be able to fine-tune their skills with a modern car.
Automotive teacher John Francis said there were a number of cars at the campus, with the latest being a six-year-old BF Falcon.
“We always had the bugbear of dealing with old stuff, so this is great,” he said.
Ballarat Bedggoods owner Barry Bedggood said the donation was about giving back to the community.
“We have been here in Ballarat for 24 years, so this is just a way to show we are part of the community,” he said.
“It’s a sound car. It won car of the year so it gives the students great cutting edge technology to hone their skills.”
