Officers said on Monday an investigation into the illicit tobacco trade has led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of guns, ammunition and tobacco in Dunnstown.
Ballarat detectives joined forces with the Australian Taxation Office before executing a number of search warrants on Thursday at properties on Ti Tree and Navigator-Dunnstown roads.
The search uncovered five hectares of tobacco plant crops, which have since been destroyed, 4.2 tonnes of tobacco leaves, three unregistered guns, ammunition and equipment used to process tobacco.
A 66-year-old man and 61-year-old man, both from Dunnstown, were arrested at the scene.
They have been assisting police with their inquiries and no charges had been laid as of Monday afternoon.
Police have called on anyone with information about illegal tobacco in Ballarat to come forward.
