Potential parents, residents and teachers have been asked to think about the design of the new school, how Lucas’s character and culture could be reflected in the buildings, and the qualities they consider most important to prepare students to be active, successful and engaged members of society.
The survey also canvasses community views about important school functions, facilities and provision of before and after school care and vacation care.
Victorian education minister James Merlino said negotiations for the new Lucas Primary School site were ongoing.
“We are delivering an exciting new primary school in Lucas to ensure families can access a great local school as the population of Ballarat continues to grow,” Mr Merlino said.
“An architect has now been appointed to design the new school and community engagement for the prep to year 6 school is now underway – giving local residents the chance to have their say on its design and facilities.”
The government has not yet committed to a time-frame for construction of the school in the rapidly-growing suburb west of the CBD.
