Trish Nield, pictured above, was walking on Daylesford’s Smith Street on the morning of October 10 before she tripped and hit her head after her puppy was set upon.
She was airlifted to Melbourne but doctors were unable to save her and she died more than a week later in hospital.
Daylesford police recently charged the owner of the offending dog with three offences, including dog at large outside an owner’s premises.
He pleaded guilty in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court last month and was fined $4000 with conviction.
Witnesses told The Courier it took 45 minutes for paramedics to arrive on the scene while Ms Nield’s condition deteriorated, prompting Ambulance Victoria to announce a review into the incident.
It’s understood the owners of the offending dog, a young family, were left shattered after her death.
