Warrick took 7-42 off 21 overs to help dismiss Mounties for 192.
Golden Point is 0-8 after facing five overs in fading light and will resume the run chase on Sunday.
Although a lower total than what the Mounties would have wanted after winning the toss and batting, it could have been much worse.
Mt Clear was in all sorts of trouble at 5-30 and even getting to three figures appeared unlikely.
Golden Point struck early when Simon Ogilvie had Mounties’ skipper Darcy Thomson out without scoring and the wickets kept tumbling.
Matt Ward, 55, and Darren Fletcher, 47, eventually stopped the rot.
They put on 59 and then Fletcher, who finished his innings using a runner, and Ash George, 42, finally released the shackles by putting on 62 for the eighth wicket to ensure Mt Clear would have something to bowl at.
