Hundreds of people lined the main street for the morning grand parade, with many dressed for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party themed event holding on to their hats and dresses in the strong winds.
Market style stalls lined the main street and children enjoyed carnival-style rides as part of the family friendly community celebration.
Cat Hynes and her three young boys have been going to the festival since they moved to the area three years ago. This year, Cat embraced the festival’s theme by dressing up with a red wig and necklace of cards.
“There is a great sense of community spirit,” she said.
“It is great for the community to have an event like this.”
Ballan Bakery owner Samantha Mackley said their shop had been full all morning and the crowds in town benefited local business.
“It is great for us to have a busy day on what would have been a quiet weekend,” she said.
“I think it is really beneficial for everybody, to bring everybody out and have it in the main street so our local businesses can benefit from the festivities as well.”
