The school’s junior school council held a competition to see which house could bring in the most food, which will be donated to the Soup Bus to feed Ballarat’s homeless and disadvantaged.

“We get food every day and there’s some people that don’t get food very often,” said junior school councillor Georgie, 10.

Pasta, pasta sauce, baked beans, tinned foods and other goods were among the pantry of groceries donated.

Teacher Melissa Pearce said one of the junior school council roles was to help others in the community.

“Soup Bus provides food for people who are either homeless or don’t have enough money to buy their own food. It means they get a good meal,” said Charlotte, 10.

Ms Pearce saw a recent Facebook plea from the Soup Bus for donations and mentioned it to the school’s young leaders who were keen to help.
