The rescue group was established six years ago to help deal with the growing number of animals which were being abandoned across Ballarat. The program operates with the help of foster parents, who care for the animals until a permanent home is found.
Two years after partnering with PETstock’s kitty play centre, the not-for-profit has managed to connect more than 200 abandoned furry friends with new families.
Animal rescue president Cherie Reid said while the work was often sad and frustrating, there was an enormous sense of joy when a stray cat was given a new lease on life.
“Sometimes they will just get dumped out in the bush and it’s a death sentence if they're not brought into care,” Ms Reid said. “You get to see the joy on people’s faces when they pick out a kitten that suits them.”
