JAKE Dignan stands tall as a prize recruit as Buninyong builds towards the 2009 Central Highlands Football League season. After taking out this year's North Ballarat Roosters reserves best and fairest in the VFL, Dignan is returning to his home club.Buninyong coach Joe Gilbert yesterday gave Bomber supporters an early Christmas present by announcing Dignan as one of eight recruits already secured."They're all good blokes and have come to the club for the right reasons," he said."They've fitted in well."The Porter Industries Bombers will be hoping the influx will help them improve on last season's fifth place."Jake Dignan is probably the star player (of the eight)," Gilbert said."He's going to be good for us.Dignan played a full season with North Ballarat Rebels in 2005 before graduating to the Roosters. He had a battle with injury, but managed seven VFL senior appearances.Ballarat Swans onballer Shane Moore has also made the move to Buninyong, which will be looking to utilise his pace.He is being joined by ruckman Jamie Kavanagh and defender Scott Driscoll from Lake Wendouree. The Bombers have further bolstered their onballer/forward stocks with the signing of Marcus Emmitt from Stanhope in the Kyabram league, and Brian Harrison from Kalkee in the Horsham District league.Geelong East's Michael Phelan is an athletic big man, and so too is Luke Bessey, who originates from Perth and has spent a few years out of the game.Gilbert is also looking for improvement from his existing players."We improved a lot last season and we can see (getting) a lot (more) improvement in our group," he said."We've got 15 juniors who are going to step-up and we will be pushing to get improvement out of them too."It is expected Buninyong will only lose a couple of players, including Gilbert's brother Rory, who is training with East Point in the Ballarat league.
