TWO brothers did burn-outs that left 60-metre skid marks while driving wedding cars, Ballarat Magistrates Court heard yesterday.Paul, 28, and Phillip, 26, Micallef of Ballarat each received substantial fines and a warning from Magistrate Richard Pithouse that it was an "extraordinarily irresponsible" act.Police prosecutor Sergeant Bob Anderson said the brothers were seen driving the wedding cars away from St Mary's Church, Echuca, about 3.30pm on March 22.They then did burn-outs as they were travelling north along Hare St that left 50 to 60-metre skid marks and generated a large amount of smoke and noise.Paul Micallef's defence counsel, Jon Irwin, said Paul and his brother had provided the cars for a friend's wedding, and that they rarely used the customised vehicles."The groom was a friend of his and he was also a car enthusiast," Mr Irwin said."A bit of pressure was applied, he was egged on and he complied with the egging on."He realises what an idiot he's been."Phillip Micallef, representing himself, said he had his vehicle impounded and had paid $500 to have it released.Phillip Micallef pleaded guilty to careless driving and Paul Micallef pleaded guilty to careless driving and failure to produce a licence.Magistrate Richard Pithouse said two wedding cars hooning up and down the main streets of Echuca was unacceptable."The community is sick and tired of people acting like yobs," Mr Pithouse said."At 28, you should know better," he told Paul Micallef."It's cost you financially and, if you come back to court, it will cost you your licence as well."Paul Micallef was fined $1000, and Phillip Micallef was fined $500.
