A COMPANY from China has shown interest in buying what could be Ballarat's most expensive property.Invermay mansion Whistlers Run is on the market, sparking interest from across the globe. The five-bedroom, multi-million-dollar mansion is home to local businessman Gavin James and was designed by Robert Andary.Just five minutes from Ballarat at 21 Pyrenees Vista Close, it comes with a price tag of $3.5 million.Hocking Stuart Ballarat director Tony Douglass said if it manages to fetch its asking price, it would become the most expensive property in Ballarat."We've had some interest locally as well as interest from a Chinese company, who are basing themselves in Ballarat,'' he said."It's been amazing in terms of the inquiries we've had.''So far the record house price is for a property on Lake Wendouree that sold for just under $3thmillion.Whistlers Run has been described as a semi-rural retreat, with a 10-car garage, saltwater swimming pool, six bathrooms, three living areas and floor-to-ceiling windows with views to Ararat and Mt Langi Ghiran. The attention to details is impeccable, with state-of-the-art appliances and commissioned art works. The floorboards are of tallowwood, reclaimed from the seats at the Melbourne Cricket Club Members Stand. There is also a distinctive tallowwood dining table featuring the original branded seat numbers.A commissioned artwork by Gareth Robert Jones, Fire Logs, has been specially installed into a recess above the open fireplace in the study/dining room.It boasts a wine cellar, red gum bar, and vineyard.Computer and television access is available in each room, with touch screen pads for operating lighting and blinds. Each of the upper living areas also has movie surround sound and stereo music reproduction, delivered through high output fixed speakers."It's been described as one of regional Victoria's best properties, and I think without doubt that it is,'' Mr Douglass said."The current record is for a property on the lake, but this could reset that bar.''
