THE Federal Government has announced 200 homes will be built in Ballarat for low income residents.Minister for Housing Tanya Plibersek said the homes, built under the National Rental Affordability Scheme, would ease the pressure of the city's rental market.''Today is a very exciting day for us because we are announcing 1170 new homes that will be built across Victoria. Two hundred will be built in Ballarat,'' Ms Plibersek said.''That's important in this area. People were telling me the last time I was here there was a lot of pressure of living in the area, so 200 homes will make a big difference.''The homes will be available for people on low and moderate incomes struggling to find a home within their budget, which includes teachers, nurses and police officers.Ballarat MP Catherine King said the announcement was a win for Ballarat and would boost the economy.Ethan Affordable Housing, a not-for-profit organisation that provides affordable housing solutions, will manage the tenancy of the houses.
