Election 2010: Cheeseman slightly ahead in Corangamite

FORMER Ballarat councillor, now Labor MHR, Darren Cheeseman is slightly ahead in the battle to retain the federal seat of Corangamite.Mr Cheeseman has a small lead over Liberal opponent Sarah Henderson on a two-party preferred basis with 80 per cent of votes counted.Mr Cheeseman has secured 39,585 or 50.83 per cent of two-party preferred votes, compared to Ms Henderson's 38,297, or 49.17 per cent of votes.Labor needs to hold Corangamite to guard against losses of seats in Queensland and New South Wales which could force a change of government.More voting updates for Corangamite will be posted as they come to hand.
