BALLARAT's newest nightspot has opened its doors after almost a decade of planning and construction.About 300 people got a sneak peek of the $3 million transformation last night before The Bluestone's official opening tonight.Formerly Pratts Warehouse, The Bluestone — on the corner of Mair and Camp streets — features a bar, club and lounge over three levels. The venue is a mix of old and new, blending the building's original heritage features with the latest fittings and technologies.Director Brian Taylor said it was exciting to be finally opening the venue, the idea for which was first mooted in 2001.''It's an amazing old building and it's just good to see it being used again rather than sitting stagnant,'' he said. The Bluestone manager Mark Ditchfield said while the venue was a long time coming, it was ''definitely worth the wait''.''The building's been here for over 100 years so we definitely wanted to make sure we had the heritage feel with a modern look inside and I think we achieved that,'' he said.''This venue is ultimately mirrored off a lot of places around Sydney and Melbourne. Every room will run different styles and cater to different markets which is probably the biggest benefit for the place.''
