HE'S got the bloodlines to succeed, and that's exactly what young Ballarat boxer Tyson Rose plans to do.A distant cousin to former Australian and world champion fighter Lionel Rose, the 15-year-old is now hoping to build on his maiden competitive victory, achieved earlier this month.Rose, a light welter-weight, outclassed his Coleraine rival 8-5 in his second-ever fight before a crowd of about 300 at Brunswick's Reggio Calabria Club. After being outscored in the first round, Rose fought back to win the next two rounds and secure victory. He received two trophies for his efforts _ one for winning the fight and the other after being judged the best junior boxer of the day. Rose said being related to Lionel, who was the first Aborigine in boxing history to win a world title, was a boost he could use to improve."I'm hoping that I can get as high as possible in the ranks," he said.Rose trains almost every day of the week as he pursues a career in the ring, honing his skills twice a week at the Ballarat Goldfields Boxing Gym under trainers Neil Robe and Rob Blackam."I train with the gym on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and I do a bit of work at home during the day, nearly every day," he said."Somedays I hit the bag and do shadow boxing and other days I go for a run and a swim."Rose's next competitive hit-out will be when he fights for a junior 64-kilogram title next month in Melbourne.
