ARARAT ballet dancer Amy Harris has danced into the hearts of voters, winning dance's top popularity contest for the second time.The annual Telstra Ballet Dancer Awards were announced in front of a capacity crowd of 1500 at the Sydney Opera House last week.For the second time, Ms Harris was crowned the People's Choice winner, having won the award previously in 2008, taking home $5000.She was among six dancers nominated by The Australian Ballet's artistic staff and principal artists.In a surprise twist, the dancer of the year award was a tie, Ty King-Wall from New Zealand and Dana Stephensen from Brisbane both winning $20,000.The TBDA announcement is an annual highlight of The Australian Ballet's partnership with principal sponsor Telstra, a relationship which has spanned 26 years. "Crowning two worthy winners illustrates the wealth of talent at the company and gives audiences much to look forward to in our 2011 season and beyond," artistic director of The Australian Ballet David McAllister said.
