Extreme winds are forecast to hit the area yet again, following a blustery Tuesday in which gusts reached 100km/h in Ballarat.
Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are expected to develop over western parts of the warning area tonight, then extend eastwards early Thursday.
Over alpine areas, peak gusts of 110 km/h are possible.
The warning comes a day after Ballarat’s SES crews responded to 30 calls for assistance.
SES deputy controller Craig Ellis said four Ballarat SES crews were out of the station for most of the afternoon and evening dealing with trees down over roads and on private property and some cases of building damage.
Winds are expected to ease over most of the warning area by Thursday afternoon.
