A MAN was flown to The Alfred hospital after he crashed his motorbike in a paddock in Haddon on Saturday afternoon.Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man, 48, was found lying on the ground in the Wilsons Road paddock about 4.15pm before emergency services were alerted.Mr Mullen said the man hit his head during the accident and suffered some loss of consciousness. The man was airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition with a head injury and possible broken wrist. Yesterday afternoon the man was in a stable condition.Meanwhile, a head-on motorbike accident in Pittong on Saturday afternoon has left both riders in hospital with serious injuries. The collision occurred about 3pm when a Snake Valley man, 26, failed to keep left on the Pittong-Snake Valley Road, colliding with a 53-year-old Linton rider.Leading Senior Constable Craig Grenfell said the Snake Valley man was riding unlicensed on an unregistered motorbike.“It was fairly lucky that the injuries weren’t even more serious or possibly fatal,” he said. Both men were taken by ambulance to the Ballarat Health Service Base Hospital. The Linton man suffered a broken vertebrae and possible wrist and ankle fractures while the Snake Valley man received a severe broken leg.Senior Constable Grenfell said the Linton man walked at least 500m after the accident to gain mobile phone reception where he called for help. Police have ruled out the influence of drugs or alcohol and said the accident did not occur at high speed.
