WARREN JANSON has been remembered as a loving family man who was passionate about his job and had a love for the community.Father of four Mr Janson died tragically earlier in the week when the car he was driving went over a cliff at Pentland Hills, just off the Western Freeway. The Alfredton man was found about 7 o’clock on Wednesday morning. Those close to him say he was a quiet man; someone who was dedicated to his family.A Metropolitan Fire Brigade member at Sunshine, his colleague Geoff Audsley said he was an extraordinarily talented firefighter who had saved countless lives.Mr Janson specialised in heavy vehicle rescue, which saw him attend the scene of many serious car crashes and come to the rescue of those in need.“It’s a tragic irony. He will be sadly missed; he was a vital member of our team,” Mr Audsley said.“Wazza was a very diligent person, always well-mannered and never said an angry word about anything.“He could knock down flames as well as anybody.”Mr Janson had also been a pool lifeguard at the Ballarat Aquatic Centre since 2006.Centre director Leonie Miller said he was a popular and valued employee.“We are all saddened by the news,” she said.“Warren will be missed by both his work mates at Ballarat Aquatic Centre and by patrons.”Rod Ashcroft has lived next door to Mr Janson and his partner and four children in Alfredton for the past 18 months and has come to know the family as good friends.“Warren was the best of fathers and worked two jobs to make sure his kids had a great start in life,” said Mr Ashcroft.“He instilled strong ethical values in them and knew the importance of structuring their lives with healthy and meaningful activities.“He was a caring man, a friend, a good neighbour and a fine human being.”
