JOFFA Corfe is better known for supporting the Collingwood Football Club, but later this month his support will be focused on epilepsy.Beginning July 30, Joffa, wearing his famous gold jacket, will be cycling to Adelaide to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria, and to raise awareness about the disorder. He aims to reach Adelaide on August 6 for the Collingwood versus Port Adelaide clash at AAMI stadium. On the first day of his trip, he will stop in Ballarat to get involved with the community, particularly football clubs. He said he was not out to break any records, but to reach out to as many people as possible. “There’s 50 million people worldwide suffering from epilepsy, yet so many don’t know much about it, so it’s important to spread awareness and to teach people what to do when a seizure occurs,” Joffa said.Joffa’s daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 13, so the matter is close to his heart.“To educate people along the way is just as good as coming back with a wheelbarrow of cash,” he said.To sponsor Joffa, call the Epilepsy Foundation on 9805 9111.
