WHEN you think of the famous family bands, The Partridge Family and Jackson Five probably spring to mind. But few may know that Ballarat has its own version — Livewire. The five-piece group made of two different families has been hitting the Ballarat music scene for almost two years, performing at mainly private functions across town. They will soon celebrate their second anniversary with a performance at the Battler’s Tavern — the place where they played their first gig.Livewire is made up of Craig Lockhart on drums and his daughters Alli, 18, on lead vocals and Georgia, 15, on rhythm guitar.Father and son duo Mark and Jono Crowden form the rest of the band.Mr Lockhart said music had run through the veins of his family for years and it presented as a great opportunity to bond together.“It’s good to be able to get together and perform like we do, everyone loves it,” he said. “Hopefully we can keep it running for a while yet.”Despite the majority of the songs being chosen by the Lockhart sisters, the group mainly performs classic pub rock music such as AC/DC, Pat Benatar and the Angels.Livewire will play on Sunday, September 25, at Battler’s Tavern from 4pm to 7pm.
