IT IS all go for Golden Point Junior Football Club next season.
The Ballarat Football and Netball League club will go forward after a meeting agreed to field a team in each of the junior football and netball divisions.
New president Rob Baker said the decision to proceed with the club was the only decision.
“We’re very confident we’ll have no dramas,” Baker said.
“We’ve got plenty of volunteers signed up. We’ve already filled the committee.”
Baker moved into the presidency role last month, not having previously been involved with the club’s committee.
“I really wanted to help the club.
“It’s a long standing club that has had exciting things happen on and off the field, and I saw a good opportunity for me to get involved,” he said.
“We will face obstacles, but they’ll be the same obstacles that any other club has had to face.
“The club did have a struggling membership with juniors, but we’re confident that won’t be the case next year.
“There’s the attitude that once you’re a Pointy you’re always a Pointy, so the kids who have played with the club in the past are very passionate about being here again.”
BFL operations officer Aaron Nunn said the league was satisfied Golden Point could go forward and endorsed its continuation in the competition.
“We submitted a document to them outlining what their requirements are.
“We are confident they can meet those targets,” Nunn said.
“They need to register a certain number of members by March. They will have to fill their under-10 and under-12 sides in reserves and seniors.
“That’s not negotiable. They also have to fill all committee positions, which they have done 95 per cent anyway.”
