IT'S official - Pamela Miller is a great mum.
The Ballarat mother has been named as Victorian runner-up in the 2004 Barnardos Australia mother of the year competition.
Pamela, a single mother of two, has been fostering children for more than 23 years and said the award was wonderful recognition.
"It's very nice to have a little bit of recognition for the work you do," said a delighted Mrs Miller.
Foster daughter, Joel Gills, 26, who Pamela started fostering 23 years ago, nominated her foster mum for the award.
Mrs Miller began fostering children because she saw a great need in the community to help children and families going through difficult times.
She has fostered more than 50 children during the last 23 years.
She moved to Ballarat four years ago and has continued to provide a warm, loving environment for children in need.
Mrs Miller now has three permanent foster children, aged 11, 12 and 15, as well as providing for children who need temporary care.
