East Point in huge victory

EAST POINT spearhead Greg Seiz was unstoppable in the 149-point annihilation of Sebastopol in the RegionalOne Ballarat Football League yesterday.
The full-forward booted eight goals in his biggest haul of the season as the Red Lion Kangaroos embarrassed the Kookaburras in brilliant sunshine at the Eastern Oval.
Seiz was just one of many key forwards who enjoyed a slice of the 32.17 (209) to 8.12 (60) scoreline, which put East Point in the top six on the ladder for the first time since round two.
It was the worst possible result for Sebastopol coach Chris Lewis, who said his side was on a slide after a competitive month of football.
Also in an attacking frame of mind for the Kangaroos were coach Shane Fisher (six goals), first-gamer Kieran Drum (five), and Adam Symes (four).
The red-hot form of the forwards could give the fifth-placed side an advantage against Sunbury this week, Fisher said.
The Kangaroos will be aiming to make it five wins on the trot when they travel to Clarke Oval on Saturday and face the undefeated Lions.
"We've certainly got some big blokes playing well up forward," Fisher said.
"We've got a few options there ... which is good because not all of us are going to be firing every week.
"It's a huge game for the club this week. But it's certainly not going to be a walk in the park."
The Kangaroos appeared to be on a Sunday afternoon stroll yesterday as they piled on 20 goals to four in the second half.
The demolition job began in the midfield, where Jason Delaney, Ben Jordan, and Luke Faull carried the ball and kicked long to the talls in attack.
Half-forward Ryan Kent dominated the air and was often the link in play moving forward.
Drum, touted as the man to lead the Kangaroo defence, was experimented with at half-forward in his first outing with the club.
He came off the bench and kicked two 50-metre drop-punt goals from the boundary in the second term.
"He was a big plus for us," Fisher said.
"Whether we use him in defence or at centre-half forward now, I don't know."
Sebastopol had few winners.
Gerard Brick was intense at the ball in the middle and up forward as he kicked two goals while he rested.
Wayne Schultz and Malcolm Niblett were reliable performers again.
Lewis said he could find only a few positives.
"It's like we've gone backwards," he said.
"I realise we're a young side and probably not the most skilfull in the competition, but there should be a level of commitment that at least makes a contest."
