KEVIN Murphy and Monika Sheehan live in Darwin but wanted to get married on the Murphy family farm at Springmount.Rosalie Murphy and Stuart Telfer live in Dubai but also wanted to get hitched at home.So throw in Christmas and what do you get? A perfect double wedding last Friday.“Kevin and Rosalie are two of nine kids so we thought it would be nice to do it on the farm just before Christmas,” Monika said.“We thought we’d kill two birds with one stone. It worked out beautifully.”Kevin and Rosalie are the son and daughter of Jack and the late Eileen Murphy, with Jack having lived most of his life in the Creswick region.“Eileen’s favourite spot to sit was at the top of Springmount so we had our ceremony there. We certainly felt her presence.”The ceremony was conducted by Ballarat celebrant Michelle Scott, with Monika and her bridal party, plus son Wayne who gave his mum away, leading the way to the hill top.Rosalie and her bridesmaids then followed.“We had two very separate bridal parties. We’re older so we got married first and then Rosalie and Stuart.”A reception followed at a private property in Mount Clear.About 70 guests came from all over Australia for the double event, including Perth and Adelaide, while Stuart’s parents travelled from England.Kevin and Monika will honeymoon in Europe in June, visiting Monika’s German relatives, while Rosalie and Stuart will stay at Springmount for a week before returning to Dubai.
