FOR every day of the last year, Dean Gerrard has been capturing a moment in time. The Ballarat resident has been taking photos and sharing them with the online community as part of Project 365.The project involves documenting a year of the photographer’s life by taking a photo a day.Free to all, Project 365 boasts of having more than 70,000 members. Mr Gerrard said he started his diary on January 1 last year with a Canon Digital SLR camera he bought 18 months ago. “I just wanted to try and see if I could do it,” Mr Gerrard said. “Part of my aim was to teach myself all the functions of the camera. “This has helped me learn how to do night photography, take photos of waterfalls and general candid shots.”And although he started by taking photos of his own life, the project soon evolved into shots of Ballarat in different moods. “I found that photos of Ballarat were more popular,” he said. From the architecture to the events around the lake, the IT support consultant has captured everything about Ballarat. “I really like doing night photography of the old buildings around the cities,” Mr Gerrard said. But doing the project means having a camera with him at all times. “My family and friends have got used to it now,” he said. For information visit http://365project.org.
