In a repeat of its Head of the Lake victories, Grammar claimed the schoolgirls’ and schoolboys’ titles at Champion Lakes today.
The girls were first to strike.
The crew of Stella Fulton (bow), Vicki Powell (two), Anna Fairbairn Calvert (three), Sarah Mair (four) and cox Clara Toohey) led all-the-way over the 2000-metre course.
They had a winning margin of 3.95 seconds
They clocked seven minutes, 46.02 seconds.
Presbyterian Ladies Perth finished second, with Genazzano third ahead of Ballarat Clarendon College.
Loreto and Ballarat High School failed to get past Saturday’s repechage.
Campbell Gullock, Sam Ballantyne, Tom Hunt, Sebastian Walsh and cox Matthew Haberfield ensured Grammar’s domination.
Grammar was third after the opening 500m and was still in this position with 500m to go before powering home to get gold by 1.98 seconds.
The boys’ time was 6:51.31.
Scotch College worked its way through the field to finish second, with Scotch Oakburn fading in the final stages to get third.
