Contrary to my detractor of recent letters, I don't know everything.
I am utterly surprised that Medibank Private is not private at all it is still under socialist administration (The Courier, April 13 "Push for private"). Someone has been pulling the wool over our eyes.
Medibank was the original social service introduced by Labor some 40 years ago. It was subsequently changed by the Liberals and renamed Medibank Private.
At this point the impression was given that it was privatised.
Furthermore, I haven't heard Tony the wildlife smuggler say that "the government I lead" will privatise what his predecessor had misleadingly privatised.
It is also amazing that the subsequent Labor government that established Medicare did not simply reinstate Medibank by removing the ambiguous word "private".
