IT has been more than 18 months since the Gregory Street silos were knocked down and as yet there has been little work done on the proposed 18-lot residential development at the site.
Works were originally due to be completed by the end of last year, but the site has since been sold to Ballarat-based developer Alan Mihaljevic.
The 18-lot subdivision will still go ahead as planned but it is now instead expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The sale of the subdivision from Melbourne’s Richard Sykes of Eleveno Pty Ltd was confirmed earlier this month and is expected to be fully settled by July.
Hocking Stuart Ballarat director Tony Douglass said 11 of the 18 blocks of land had been sold and that current landholders would not be affected.
“There had been nothing happening for some period so it is good to know there will be some progress soon,” said Mr Douglass.
“There’s been a few hiccups but everything has worked out now.
“It will be great for the people who have already bought the land.”
The now-demolished silos were originally earmarked to be converted into apartments, but Eleveno Pty Ltd pulled the pin on the idea in 2010.
