BALLARAT'S Gallery on Sturt is currently presenting an exciting exhibition and sale of works by esteemed Australian artist Kenneth Jack.
Goldfields and Beyond features 73 limited edition Jack graphic prints, including lithographs, linocuts and etchings with aquatint, with all works available to purchase.
With works included in collections as diverse as the National Gallery of Australia, Buckingham Palace and London's Victoria and Albert Museum, Kenneth Jack is renowned as a leader in depicting Australia's rural and outback life.
His artistic skills were recognised during his schooling at Melbourne High School, and through his founding in 1956 of the the Painting and Printmaking Department within the School of Art at Caulfield Institute of Technology — now part of Monash University.
Gallery on Sturt curator Leigh Tweedie said Kenneth Jack possessed a deep love of his country of birth, Australia.
"His artistic skills, sensitivity and life as an artist allowed him to communicate to a wide range of people," she said.
"The Australian towns, with all their astounding variety of architecture and landscapes, were of particular interest to him and he has concentrated on this subject more than any other Australian artist."
She said Jack experienced first hand the vastness of regional life, with Australian landscape artist Lloyd Rees calling him a most exacting draughtsman, whose work "goes beyond objective realism into the realms of imagery and spirit".
Kenneth Jack: Goldfields and Beyond, art exhibition and sale is on display at Gallery on Sturt until May 19.
