Look forward, not back, to determine the future

Why do we, as one of the nations on this earth, continue to make wrong decisions which adversely affect our peoples?

Conversley, we also make decisions that greatly advantage our way of life. As we advance throughout history, there are many ups and downs of our progress in building a strong nation.

We are not alone in this dilemma as the rest of the world tend to follow each other in many ways, each striving to outdo one another in all aspects of advancing themselves on the world stage, at the expense of their neighbours.

Somewhere I heard these words (author unknown): "If you don't know where you are going, then it doesn't matter which path you follow".

This brings me to question the thinking, based upon the experiences gained throughout history, and from our interpretation of those experiences, just how we formulate our direction into the future.

Studying history, as a basis for directing our nation and our people's lives will not achieve anything more than we have in our world today.

Many world leaders have degrees in history, having studied the subject and passed many examinations to achieve their degree then are able to lecture and teach others to simply add more history to that already known.

History is that which has passed us by, we cannot go back or alter a single word or deed.

It has gone and cannot return.

I therefore propose that it be dropped from our education curriculum, and a new subject be introduced, to be known as "Futuristic Studies". It would be taught from the earliest to the level of university, where one could major in the subject.
