POLICE believe a driver that ran a red light caused a two-car crash that led to a 66-year-old man being taken to hospital this morning.
Exact details of a crash at the corner of Mair Street and Peel Street at 10am this morning are not yet known, but police believe a driver running through a red light is to blame.
The driver of Ford Mondeo, 66, was trapped in his car for almost 10 minutes as CFA crews worked to free him.
His car collided with a Jeep, driven by a 37-year-old female with a two-year-old boy on board.
Both walked away uninjured, while the 66-year-old man suffered minor injuries.
The collision occurred at the same intersection where Ballarat's Jessica Wills,18, died in 2010.
During the court case regarding that particular crash, the Ballarat Magistrates Court heard there had been four fatalities at the intersection.
Any witnesses to this morning's crash are asked to contact Senior Constable Peter Byvoet at the Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000.
