CENTRAL Highlands Football League has named its preliminary interleague squad.
Head coach Shane Skontra met with league assistants last night to determine the initial list of 50 players, which will be trimmed in the coming weeks before the final team is announced.
Central Highlands FL will play its first senior interleague clash in 15 years when it meets Ellinbank and District FL next month.
It will be the league’s first senior representative match since it beat Mininera and District league in 1997.
Skontra said the initial group of 50 could be added to in the lead-up to final selection if a player warranted inclusion.
He said the squad was a balanced one.
“There’s obvious difficulties naming the list of 50 after only two rounds, keeping in mind injuries and a few other variables,” Skontra said.
“We will make contact with some players we feel are still in the mix and we reserve the option to add to the list over the coming weeks.”
The team will have its first training run this Sunday at St Patrick’s College ahead of the much-anticipated clash at Nar Nar Goon on May 26.
