Hives to compete in Junior Federation Cup at Bendigo

AUSTRALIA begins its Junior Federation Cup Asia/Oceania final qualifying at Bendigo today, with Kingston's Zoe Hives on court for the host nation.

The top four teams in the girls' event qualify for the world finals in Barcelona, Spain, in September.

Hives joins Naiktha Bains, of Brisbane, and fewllow Victorian Isabelle Wallace, of East Bentleigh, in Australian team.

Australia is seeded third.

It has drawn Malaysia, Singapore and number five seeds China.

Hives, Bains and Wallace meet Singapore in the first round.

Team captain Nicole Pratt said the girls were excited to be in the green and gold for the first time.

"I think they're pretty excited to be representing Australia at Junior Fed Cup.

"It's an honour to put the green tracksuit on.

The girls are coming in here with great form," Pratt said.
