AN alcohol and drug-affected driver crashed into a tree after an argument with his girlfriend after last year’s AFL grand final, a court has heard.
Beau Burgess, 23, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to five charges, including drink-driving, driving while disqualified and careless driving.
The court heard Burgess had been watching the grand final with his girlfriend in Mt Clear last October, when, after an argument, she left the house. Police said Burgess drove after her, but ended up crashing into a tree.
When police arrived, Burgess recorded a blood alcohol content of .126 and had cannabis in his system. Burgess was fined $1250 and disqualified from driving for 24 months.
