Man convicted after fleeing Gillies Street crash scene

A MAN who crashed into the back of another car then fled the scene was also unlicensed and driving an unregistered motor vehicle at the time, a court heard yesterday.

Despite two drink-driving prior offences, Jarrod Lorensini, 33, escaped Ballarat Magistrates Court with a fine. The court heard the Mt Macedon man was driving south along Gillies Street on April 17 last year when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with another vehicle, causing significant damage to the victim’s car, before walking away.

Lorensini was convicted and fined $1500.
