She has defeated China's Qiu-Yu Ze 6-4, 6-4 today.
This gives her two wins in as many singles appearances in the tie.
Hives from Kingston had win against Singapore in the opening rubber, but was rested against Malaysia.
Australia's Naiktha Bains wrapped up the clash with Malaysia with a hard-fought 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win first-up today.
China is Australia's last opponent in the first phase round-robin.
This is Hives' debut event for Australia.
