Down memory lane for Ballarat's Heritage Weekend

CHILDHOOD memories will be brought to vivid life at this year’s Ballarat Heritage Weekend.

From pedal cars to carousels and puppet shows, it will be a colourful walk down memory lane on May 12 and 13.

Classic cars and trains, talks and tours, high tea, vintage bus rides and horse and carriage rides will also feature. More than 50 activities are on offer, most free of charge or available for a gold coin donation.

Ballarat City councillor Samantha McIntosh said this year’s event would take people on a journey evoking their childhood memories.

“This year’s theme is something we can all relate to, no matter what age you might be, whether it be playing with toys, dolls, reading classic children’s books or playing games and singing nursery rhymes,” Cr McIntosh said.

“If you are looking for a special way to treat your mum, heritage weekend is sure to please. Bring her along to see some of the feature collections and enjoy a high tea experience.

“We all know history lives in Ballarat all year round but Heritage Weekend really is our chance to celebrate and discover parts of Ballarat you may have never explored before.”
