Ballarat North house fire deliberately lit: police

POLICE believe a fire that caused about $60,000 damage to a house in Ballarat North overnight was deliberately lit.

A Norman Street home in Ballarat North went up in flames about 1.30am this morning, causing extensive damage to one room and smoke and water damage throughout the unit.

Detectives have roped off the property as a crime scene and arson squad investigators from Melbourne are currently on-site.
