LAKE Learmonth has been closed due to a blue-green algae outbreak.
There will be no swimming, water sports, wading or fishing in the lake until further notice.
Warning signs will be erected around the lake today.
Blue-green algae can result in an unusual taste or odour. Some blue-green algae species produce toxins that are harmful to humans and animals when they are consumed, inhaled or contact the skin.
The water will be tested weekly and the lake will remain closed until two successive water samples have low cyanobacteria levels.
