A MAN was punched twice in the head after a passing driver stopped and got involved in a dispute, a court has heard.
Ryan Harvey, 20, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court over the altercation, and pleaded guilty to unlawful assault.
The court heard Harvey was driving in Wendouree when he saw a dispute unfolding between a man and woman.
Harvey got out of the car and decided to assist, walking over to the man, swearing at him and punching him in the face twice.
Defence lawyer Alexandra Squarci said her client had attended a funeral earlier that day and was upset.
Magistrate Richard Pithouse sentenced Harvey to a 12-month good behaviour bond with conviction, including a requirement to pay $500 to the court fund.
