BFL inaugural Indigenous Round next weekend

BALLARAT Football Netball League is to have its first "Indigenous Round" on Saturday and Sunday May 19-20.

The BFNL is planning to celebrated the contribution of the indigenous community to the competition over its history.

Past indigenous players include Ted Lovett and Eric Clarke from North Ballarat.

Clarke, who also had time with Redan, played six games with St Kilda in 1980.

Lovett, a Henderson Medallist, made nine appearances with Fitzroy in in 1963-64.

The BFNL will officially launch the "Indigenous Round" next week.

This recognises the important role that women play in country football and netball leagues, and clubs throughout the region.
