Ballarat dogs line up for Million Paws Walk

BALLARAT is gearing up for the biggest event on the canine calendar.

The RSPCA Million Paws Walk will be held on Sunday, when hundreds of animal lovers and their four-legged friends will swarm Victoria Park to raise money for animals in need.

Registrations open at 9am on the Sturt Street side of Victoria Park and the walk starts at 10am.

Always a huge success, last year’s Million Paws Walk involved over 19,000 people and their dogs and raised $405,000 to support the RSPCA.

RSPCA Ballarat acting shelter supervisor Hayley Aisbett said the event was a fantastic opportunity for the community for the community to show their support for animals in need.

“Taking part in the Million Paws Walk is a fantastic way of treating the family to a fun day out while helping support the RSPCA’s vital animal welfare work,” she said,

Photos of the dogs will be published on Tuesday, May 22 — the same day you can start voting online for your favourite dog.

The top 20 dogs will be featured on Saturday, May 26.

The winning pooch’s owner will receive a pet care pack, including brushes, a collar, lead and Schmackos.

Another 10 runners-up will receive a free dog wash voucher from JJ’s Waterwise Carwash.
