VICTORIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE

A road trip to Box Hill was not pretty for North Ballarat Roosters.

They had a long drive home from an 81-point thrashing.

Box Hill Hawks took control in a powerful eight-goal to two second quarter to push the margin out to 51 points by half-time.

After an even first quarter, the Roosters had been 11 points down at quarter-time.

Hawthorn-listed tall Jack Gunston booted seven in the Hawks blitz, pulling in nine marks and proving too strong for the Roosters.

Hawthorn rookie Amos Frank was lively up forward, booting three goals while former Roosters premiership player Daniel Pratt also had three majors.

Former North Ballarat Rebel Kyle Cheney was best on ground for the Hawks.

Lachie George was the sole multiple goal-kicker for the Roosters.

Onballer Liam Anthony, dropped from North Melbourne this week, was the top possession-getter with 33 touches and worked hard for the Roosters while fellow Kangaroo Cruize Garlett had 31 disposals.

The Roosters are now languishing on two wins and six losses from eight matches to start the season.

BALLARAT FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Ballarat proved too accomplished for Sebastopol on Sunday at Marty Busch Reserve, defeating the home team 17.17 (119) to 11.7 (73).

After a relatively even first half, which saw the Kookaburras withing a couple of goals at half time, the Swans shifted into overdrive in the second half.

On Saturday East Point's Sam Kitchin kicked a goal after the siren to give the Kangaroos a three point victory over North Ballarat City at Eureka Stadium.

Kitchin marked a ball within kicking distance of goal as the siren blew and kicked accurately to the give the Kangaroos what may prove a season-defining win.

Dan Jordan had been the hero for East Point prior to that, with eight goals, however North Ballarat City was perhaps its own worst enemy, with the last six behinds of the match.

Lake Wendouree has registered its first victory of the season, downing Melton at MacPherson Park by six points.

Redan defeated Darley by 26 points, while Sunbury defeated Bacchus Marsh by 24.
