Ross Creek bow-and-arrow accused released from custody

A ROSS Creek man accused of firing an arrow at another man has been granted bail.

Justin Mark Beaumont, 34, appeared briefly in the dock of Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday morning, with a large graze on his cheek and a swollen left eye.

Beaumont’s application for bail was unopposed by police.

According to charge sheets, Beaumont assaulted another man using the bow and arrow, and fired an arrow at him.

Police also allege that Beaumont damaged a glass door and plaster walls belonging to the man. The damage was valued at $1000.

Beaumont was bailed under strict conditions, including weekly reporting to the Ballarat Police Station and complying with an intervention order which was made yesterday.

Beaumont’s lawyer Scott Belcher indicated that his client may plead guilty when he returned to court later this month.

The case, before magistrate Peter Couzens, was adjourned to May 30.
