A BALLARAT group committed to making life easier for local breast cancer sufferers is holding a ball to raise money for the cause — and you’re invited.
The Ballarat Pink Phoenix Support Group will host a “roaring ’20s” ball this Saturday for its annual major fundraiser.
The group is made up of several women who have had breast cancer themselves, who strive to provide both emotional and practical support for sufferers in the Ballarat region.
Now in its fifth year, the group hopes this year’s fundraiser will raise in excess of $10,000.
Group president Gillian Britt said the vast majority of funds raised would stay in Ballarat.
She said the group’s members provided much-needed support and friendship to local sufferers in the form of regular visits, food deliveries, clothing and financial assistance.
“We use a roster system and take turns visiting the girls,” she said.
“They’re always very grateful.”
Ms Britt said anyone looking to attend the ball was welcome to bring an elaborate costume, but for those that didn’t, feather boas and top-hats would be available for purchase on the night.
The Roaring ’20s ball will be held at Victoria Bowling Club this Saturday from 7.30pm.
Tickets cost $30 and are available from Gillian Britt on 0408 304 117 or by visiting Chocalatto at shop 2, 513 Warrenheip Street, Buninyong.
