THE irreversible environmental damage threatened by coal seam gas (CSG) and coal mining is becoming alarmingly clear in NSW and QLD.
Tragically, the long-term affects on environmental and human health may not become clear until it is too late.
This is why there is a growing alliance of rural and urban community groups across Victoria, from the Otways to Toongabbie, who are calling for a ban on all new on-shore coal and unconventional gas operations until there has been a thorough investigation into the likely impacts of this industry on water resources, farmland and food security, local communities and natural biodiversity, and greenhouse emissions.
We must stand up to the mining barons, who are lining the pockets of our governments, and demand that we maintain clean water, fresh food and a safe climate for our communities not new polluting coal projects.
