CHFL: Carngham-Linton into top eight

CARNGHAM-LINTON has burst into the Central Highlands Football League top eight with an upset win over Newlyn today.

A five-goal display from Jake Pring was the catalyst as the Saints snatched a 16-point victory against the Cats away from home.

The four points lift coach Darren Quilliam and his men over into seventh spot on the ladder heading into the competition-wide bye.

Elsewhere today, Hepburn spearhead Lee Cox went on a goal-kicking spree as the Burras secured a commanding 103-point win over Creswick.

Cox booted eight goals in the first half to finish with 12 for the day as the home side kept its spot at the top of the table.

Bungaree did its top four ambitions no harm with a nine-point win over Daylesford, Waubra ground out a 23-point victory against a gallant Springbank, Ballan recorded its first win of the season against Learmonth by 39 points, Clunes beat Dunnstown by 45 points, Beaufort defeated Illabarook by 52 points and Buninyong fought off a determined Gordon by 34 points.

Rokewood-Corindhap and Skipton will complete round seven with their traditional Sunday fixture tomorrow.
