RECENTLY I was driving to my post office box in Linton with my step dad.
I had an appointment with my doctor but as I came up the hill, I saw a black pony running into the road.
I panicked he was almost hit by a car and I went up the pony and he was friendly.
I work with many rescue groups and had heard that people were dumping stock including ponies.
So I asked my step dad to drive home and get the float so I could take this gelding home.
A Golden Plains truck was zooming up the hill and the pony was very spooked and ran in near the truck, I panicked and thought he would be hit.
He wasn't. I managed to make him go to the grass on the side of the road.
After we had him loaded and he was home, I began to really like this little pony.
I breed miniature horses and this was a miniature but a gelding and he was really sweet, so once he was safe and sound, I phoned my local policeman who was lovely.
I then got a rather rude call from the local ranger who told me, well yelled really, that I should have left the pony there and I said I prevented an accident and he got worse and said the pony was his property and I did the wrong thing.
He also said he would have to take the pony and he would go to the RSPCA. I do a lot of animal rescue with the RSPCA and know only too well that he would be put to sleep.
I now love this little pony, I named him Star and I don't want to lose him.
I guess I'm asking readers would you have prevented an accident and saved the pony or not?
